UC Davis Archaeological Field School

in Northwestern California

June 21- August 1, 2004

Field Conditions
King Range National Conservation Area is located approximately 5 hours from UC Davis. The Smith River is located approximately 7.5 hours from UC Davis in Del Norte County in the extreme northwestern corner of the state. Students should expect to stay at field school during the entire six weeks of the program and be prepared to work Monday through Friday all day and Saturday mornings. Take a look at the Accomodations page for information on camp life.

Expect to work hard, learn a lot, and have fun!

Environmental zones in Northern California include the coast, estuaries, river and uplands. Nights can be cool and mornings are often foggy. Days grow warm to hot and sunny. Layering is key.
